Hey everyone i'm new to this site so sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot. I'm 18 and currently in college trying to finish my BS before i start applying to law enforcement jobs. This has really been a dream of mine forever since my whole family is police officers but i'm concerned about the poolygraph. I know i'm probably to young to be worried about it but the test is driving me crazy because the thought of not being able to become a police officer because of something in my past is killing me. I've never done drugs, stole, recieved a ticket, or have been arrested, but there is one thing in my past that i believe can dq me. When i was in high school girls would send around nude photos of themselves. I've recieved a few of them thinking no big deal. I thought it was ok if a 15 year old looked at another 15 year old nude. I know most police polygraphs ask about child pornography and thats where i'm scared. In my state the law says that there needs to be a sex act going on, lewd exposure of the genitals, or solo masturbation to be considered child pornography. All the photos i recieved were just topless, but i'm still scared of being deemed a pedophile. All these girls were around my age and it seemed like something every high school student has recieved. All the pictures are deleted now. Now my question is do i check yes or no on the polygraph questionaire when the time comes? Also how do i even know that this will be one of the questions asked when i'm hooked up to the machine? Sorry if there is any grammar or spelling mistakes, i have to get to class in 15 mins so i typed this fast.

I am a polygraph examiner and was also a BI in law enforcement.  You have nothing to worry about at all.  When you are 15 looking at 15 year old topless females it is not a crime or a deviant act.  It is also not considered looking at child pornography. Just continue with your education and apply for that dream job.  Once you get it remember your actions and be a good officer, not a nit picking officer.  There is no crime or moral violation in what you related in your posting.
