just stopped meds on my own... am I dqed?

I stopped my meds on my own about 2 months ago... but told my doctor about it... is that bad to have stopped them on my own and can function without them properly if i apply for a federal job later on or even a police job? should i have asked my doctor before hand? I told him about it and he said "as long as you do fine without them i am for it." is this a bad move for me in the long term? should i go back on them and then ask to go off them? what should I do?!?
