Answering your owne question....????

Alright i have been over chapters 3 and 4 a couple times.
im confused with it all. i guess i just have to keep reading to get it "drilled" in my head.

What i would like to know id ive read alot on sites and what not about how if you ask yourself a question (in your head) and answer your owne question then it should work....?

eg.. if they asked me a question where they could potentially "catch" me in a lie if i say "NO" if i asked myself sayyy.....
"do you owne a pet tarantula..?"
and then say my answer... "NO"

or should it be something that has quite significance in my life, instead of the silly tarantula question.

Im quite confused with this all, any help is MUCH appreciated! i know its a bit of a silly question.
