Dont understand the polygraph questions

regarding questions like, have you ever cheated in school what am I suppose to say? The correct answer is yes everyone has copying a friends homework etc but in the lie behind the lie detector book it says to say NO?


Here is another one:

5. Comparison: Prior to -----, did you ever lie to someone in
authority? No.

I lied to a school teacher once.. or my parents they are in a position of authority why do I say no?
