With regard to your question, I don't know whether the Canadian army trains any of its people to beat the polygraph. But polygraph "testing" has no scientific basis to begin with. It's possible to pass the polygraph using simple countermeasures that polygraphers have no demonstrated ability to detect. You'll find these techniques explained in Chapter 4 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector:
