I took a polygraph test for a local Police Department. I was asked only 5 questions twice for each.  Nothing seemed out of the ordinary except as he was disconnecting me he said "What were you thinking about when you answered question #4" taken off guard I replied "I was just thinking about the question..." He then stated " okay you can leave." The whole thing didn't take more than 20 minutes. Any thoughts??? Pass... fail...

I was surprised by the format of the test... I expected it to be much more extensive. All five questions were extremely general.

1. We are in Rhode Island. Yes
2. Have you committed any type of sex crime? No
3. Have you been involved in illegal drug activity? No
4. Have you stolen anything over $50 in value? No
5. Have you committed any serious crime (Felony) for which you have not been caught? No

I was told this process would take approx 2- 2 1/2 hours but the pretest interview took about 25 minutes and the actual test took no more than 15 minutes. The only unsettling thing was his final statement. If there had been some type of question about my answer wouldn't you have expected him to delve deeper in the questioning or is this a typical interview. I just don't like the fact that in 40 minutes he has decided whether or not I will get the Law enforcement job I have been testing for the last 5 months to get. I am wondering if my experience is typical or are they usually more thorough and either this guy was just rushed or didn't really care.

That series does not sound like any proper format that I have heard of. Not at all in depth. Which question were you told you reacted to?
Without truth, there is no honor.

Sorry, I just re-read your first letter. He asked no further questions after saying you "reacted"?
Without truth, there is no honor.
