A good start is to read the Lie Behind the Detector downloadable at this site.

Please consider the options of not taking it or telling the polygraph operator that you know about the "science" and how the test is administered.

No one at this website advocates lying to questions during the test.  They do want you to understand that in order to have a "successful" test, your examiner must lie to you.  How you handle this information is your own personal decision.

That is the irony of the "Lie Detector."

So when he asks my name i am bit my tounge or pinch my ass cheeks and then answer?   I read that book and i didnt really get the hole thing.  I am sapose to bit tounge or pinch butt on the control questions to make it look like i am lieing.  and then on the others that i am lieing on i am not sapose to and it will make it look like i am telling the truth on those.

Dear I Need to Lie,

Just go into your polygraph exam and tell the truth.  I absolutely assure you from reading your statements that the examiner will have one hell of a time trying to discern truth from fantasy.

Puhlease!!
Ok, well it holds good entertainment value in the middle of the night, I guess.

I need to lie 2,

Pinch your cheeks right before you tell the lie.  Isn't that what the book suggests?

Dear Polyman2002 (alias little "george" 's twin brother),

You do bring comic relief to the site.  Your stinging one-liners against those who do not believe in polygraphs confirms my belief that you have not graduated from high school.  You have made reference to "the book" so I am happy to realize that you can read (and thus assume you do have a higher then fifth grade education).  Try reading "the book" for comprehension this time and see if you can understand the proper conclusion to your own question.

I believe, if nothing else, this website can claim credit for improving your typing skills.  Keep trying, maybe you can put more then three sentences together in one post.

Watch Polyman admit that countermeasures can fool the polygraph.

Hmm...notice the sudden influx of one-liner polygraph proponents to the message board?  The change in the nature of the postings after the NAS report is remarkable.  No debate, no discussion.  Just the lowbrow one-liners.

You know what I think?

They're scared as hell.

ROTFLMAO!
You are certainly on a roll, aren't you!

KEEP IT UP!!

I admit some perverse pleasure in being witness to this sad attempt of the pro-polygraphers to deter us from our focus on the important issues and debates.

I agree, and I suppose it's not surprising that since the release of the NAS report on 8 October 2002, lacking a rational argument, frightened minds in the polygraph community are lashing out with ad hominem one-liners.

I feel slighted.
Before reading this thread, I just left the longest post of my short career.  I did not know I was supposed to look like a freshly kicked three legged dog.
Maybe the reason this topic has received no respect from anyone is that it has been many times patently silly.
Is this post short enough to show my abject misery over polygraph's eventual demise?
I promise to be scared later.....

Fair Chance,

Don't you mean higher "Than" 5th grade.  I wouldn't talk about anybody's education level  when you write a sentence like "higher "then" 5th grade."  Maybe an investigation needs to be conducted in reference to you even completing elementary school.  Please don't tell me you are a college graduate. Better still, if you must, don't mention the college by name.  :P

Excellent observation Polyman2002!  I am impressed.  I stand corrected for a very basic grammatical error.  I am glad to inspire you to post something informative which added to my knowledge and I respect you for it. Please continue on your fine trend and add some substance to your one-liner postings.  Everyone here will converse on a scientific, philosophical, and logical level consistant with the argument and evidence that you bring to the discussion.  While Degrees are not about absolute knowledge, they do represent the ability and persistence to reach a goal.

I can take constructive criticism, can you?

I find it refreshing that you take extreme indignation concerning my spelling but not my ideas.  I made sure that I typed more slowly this time so you will not have to use your precious intellect to check my spelling.  I am far more interested in comprehending the ideas that others share with me.  I find it far more satisfying than (did I use it right that time?) picking apart spelling or grammatical typos or errors.

I argue ideas, you argue semantics.  Anyone can spend their time in dictionaries, I like to spend my time sharing ideas with other people.  You ought to try it sometime.  You obviously seem capable, why not leave the "trashtalk" and communicate some logical thoughts.
