How is a failure of the FBI poly reported?

I had someone check scattered castles and no derogatory information existed for me. Further to this, the Security person I spoke to advises that FBI keeps the information with the FBI only. It almost seems like there are different levels of access within SC. Can a future Poly Examiner see the results in some other area of SC? This is all so confusing. With the limited amount of Federal Contractor jobs remaining in the DC area I cannot rule out that if I want to still make a good living I will have to still pursue non FBI roles that require a CI poly.

Does anyone know how this works?
