I have taken a poly and failed, I will be taking another soon.  I spoke to the person who may be doing my background check, and he advised I should look into my failed poly so I know why I failed all the relevant questions.  It makes sense, knowing what went wrong would help with future polys.  In my request for the info about last poly, what laws govern the release of the info.  Is there a federal poly law that requires the release of the poly results along with all with all other info, or do I rely on the state statute that governs personnel files.  Thank you in advance.

Your prior polygraph was for a local law enforcement agency, was it not? If so, then I believe your state's public record access law will be the relevant one. The federal Privacy Act does not govern state and local government records.

I sign a written consent for pre-employment polygraph examination form.  They say because I signed that form I am not entitled to the results.  Does this sound kosher?

George W. Maschke

Kosher? No. Legal? I don't know. You might want to consult a lawyer regarding your rights in this matter.
