Does anyone know how polygraphers change their tactics if they know you've been polygraphed before?

George W. Maschke

There's no standard operating procedure in this regard. However,, you can expect to be asked about any previous polygraphs, and the outcomes of such past polygraphs may well impart a bias to the polygrapher.

Is there a standard answer one can give in subsequent tests? Are there things one should/should not say about the previous test(s)?

George W. Maschke

I realize that it can put one in a Catch-22 situation, but I think most of the time it's probably best to just be candid about one's past polygraph experiences.

In discussing one's past polygraph experiences, one should bear in mind that expressing scorn or contempt for polygraphy is likely to antagonize the polygraph operator.

Quote from: ohnonotagain on Jan 18, 2010, 05:38 PMI took a poly with a polygrapher over 5 years ago.  I have another one scheduled with him.  Will he compare my answers from my last test to the new one?

The only person who can answer that question with certainty is the polygraph operator himself. However, assuming that he keeps records going back five years, I think it's also reasonable to assume that he would check those records.
