2 years ago I went in for a DIA polygraph.

I admitted some illegal activity prior to the test for which I was and remain deeply ashamed but activity which occurred in High School.  The interview was the worst experience of my life.

The FBI came to investigate me for it.  They found no evidence and to my knowledge no charges were ever filed.

However, I am also an officer in the military and at some point getting a top secret clearance is going to be required.  

Is getting a top secret clearance now impossible for me and if it is possible, what do I need to do to make sure that I can get one?

As a military officer, you have a secret clearance, right? So whatever you did in high school was presumably not a matter of such concern as to preclude you from holding a security clearance altogether. It seems unlikely that your past illegal activity would preclude you from holding a top secret clearance if it hasn't led to the revocation of your secret clearance. I don't know what more you can do at this point except to be prepared to explain your past to a background investigator.
