I went to an info session last night for the police agency I am applying for and I asked what the failure rate for their particular polygraph test was. She told us that 3 our of 4 people FAIL the polygraph. She aslo explained to everyone how it "works" and she said that the baseline you with questions like "Is your name ...?" and "Is the date today...?". I knew this was false so it made me smile. I was wondering about howe many other people in there were educated about the polygraph. Anyway, just thought I would share.

Sir,
By utilisation of the small, but acceptable samplink rate quoted by the
poligrapf examiners, this astonishing evidence proofs to us that 75%
of the Amerikaner population are dishonest liars.

Furthermore, can we extrapolate that 75% of poligrapf examiners is
also dishonest liars, no? Otherwise there must be some other statistic
for examiners.

The truth is they really dont know who is truthful and who is not.

The questions you refer to are usually asked first on the test which are not scored at all and are meant for you to get acustomed to the examiners voice and absorb the intial shock of nervousness of the test. The susprising thing is is that many people are not educated as to how the poly works and are thus branded lairs while telling the truth.

What research do you have to support that statement?  I'd like to see it.

Its called personal experience.   ;) I've taken several polys with all mixed results all the while being truthful and telling the same information each time.

So you have none?  Do you think examiners might have "experience" that contradicts yours?  Who wins?  Have you considered the scientific approach?
