I failed an FBI polygraph for an intel anlyst position. I already had a secret clearance and I am currently working for a Defense contractor. My employer wants to upgrade my clearnace to Top Secret. If I agree to this DOD will find out about the FBI polygraph. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Yes, DoD will find out about the FBI polygraph. When a National Agency Check is conducted, it will reveal that you have an FBI file. That file will be requested, and then your FBI polygraph results may become an issue. You can expect to be asked about it. You might also be asked to submit to a DoD counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, even if it's not normally required for the position. A failed FBI polygraph is not necessarily a bar to holding a top secret clearance, especially as you had a clearance before your FBI polygraph.
