Question on Countermeasures

I've been trying to find an answer to this, but I can't. I know it is not safe to use physical (tongue biting) and mental countermeasures at the same time. However, should you use a mixture throughout the exam? Sometimes physical, sometimes mental...or does it matter. Which is the better route? Thanks.
