To Tell or Not to Tell???

I'm scheduled to take a pre-e,ployment polygraph for an LE agency and my question is this:  If I choose to divulge to the examiner that I've researched the polygraph extensively and don't consider myself a good candidate for testing, what are the realistic chances I'll be waived?  And if I am waived, what are the chances my application will be considered any further?

I'd like to walk in, tell the gentleman I know the lie behind the test as well as countermeasures to foil it, but what if he administers it anyway and then fails me?  Is it worth risking losing the chance at a good job or is it better to just go in and try to control my own results?  Any advice or experiences are welcomed and appreciated.

This is ultimately a decision you are going to have to make on your own.  Whether or not you know about the polygraph, it is still extremely likely that they will polygraph you anyway.

Case in point, when an agency hires a polygrapher he is subject to passing a polygraph to get the job.  ?????

Also the reaction on to whether or not you know about the polygraph is completely up to the individual polygrapher.  Personally I would take offense to someone knowing the tricks of my trade and therefore might hold it against them.

Good luck

Dimas didn't you try that? or was that BEECHTREES? I can't remember.  At  any rate to the poster: keep me updatred how it goes, I would be interested in how it goes......

Yes it was me that it occured to, however, i was kind of hoping not to "influence" this particular applicant simply based on my experiences with the Polygraph.

If he is however, interested, he can read about both my experiences on page 23 of the share your polygraph experience page. Labeled taking one for the team and taking one for the team II.  Unfortunately, after reading my experience I am sure he will choose to lie and it wasn't the path I really wanted to put him on.
