Hey,
I was just wondering if a disorderly conduct would really hurt my chances of becoming a P.O., in NY its a violation but I still dont know how departments would look at it. I was 18 at the time and never been in trouble before or after that. I have an interview coming up with the Syracuse City Police, I'm going to tell them the truth but I just wanted some heads up if anyone would know how they would react to it. Thank You.

It shouldn't be a very big deal. If it's long in your past and you haven't been in trouble since then, you shouldn't worry about it. Just be up front about it.

I'm not sure about Syracuse, but I know guys that have been arrested for worse and are now with NYPD or NYSP. Most agencies have no problem looking past violations as long as they are non-drug related and occurred during high school and/or college.
