Hello all,

Does anybody know exactly what is done during a police background check when applying to a PD?  How far back to they check your history?  Who do they talk to?

Also, are any investigations by the police stored on your record forever (like if you were brought in for questioning and fingerprinting about breaking a store window when you were 16 even though you didn't do it and were released with no charge)?

What if you were fired from a job 13 years ago but the business no longer exists?  Is there a record of that incident stored somewhere for them to check?

Just be totally honest through it all....getting fired from a job 13 years ago will not cause any problems for you.

If you arent totally honest, and lay everything out in your background questionnaire, it WILL come out during your polygraph. Or at least you will feel guilty about it, and screw with your results.
