The breathing I think i figured it out. I think i was counting the 1,2 and 3,4 to fast because it didn't feel right. Going with making it last 4 seconds for the in and out. When you said "Control questions are designed to elicit a reaction even when answering "honestly." So basically they are made to hit a nerve so to speak and a lie should hit even a bigger one in you? So that is why the relevant questions are seen as lies when they read higher because they believe they should hit a bigger nerve(so to speak)? My last 2 sentences where questions and if I'm right on them it would explain to me why a normal control question would read higher than a truthful relevant question.

Control questions are designed to elicit a reaction even when answering "honestly." I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question about the breathing. You can simply ignore irrelevant and and sacrifice relevant questions as far as countermeasures are concerned.

1.      The controlled questions: I read that is where you produce stimulation to get a higher reading and with the relevant questions you try to control it so it is less of a reading. Now where I don't understand is if the control questions are things I would be honest on why would I give a higher reading. My past is not a clean one due to drugs and such but it has been a long time and I don't need to hide it because I have a record and it is known. Do you lie on all control questions and produce a stimulation or on some and the rest that you tell the truth on treat your body response as the same as a relevant question?
2.      The breathing: 1, 2 in and 3, 4 out. Is that seconds or just 1,2,3,4? When I was young for seconds I was told count like 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000 or 1- Mississippi, 2- Mississippi, ect. I feel I'm breathing to fast because I am trying just 1, 2 in and 3, 4 out and not treating it like seconds.
3.      Irreverent questions or sacrificial ones: how do I treat them? I read they are not scored. I have read the book online and will some more but I just need to make sure I fully understand what I am doing.
If I am way off on anything I said please clarify it so I know and anyone reading what I wrote is told right. Thanks in advance for any input.
