A new FBI Polygraph Northeastern Region challenge coin has recently appeared for sale on eBay. While the obverse is largely unchanged, the reverse has been sanitized, eliminating the slogan "THE ROGUE EXAMINERS":

It would appear that going rogue (or at least publicly admitting it) is no longer in vogue with the FBI Polygraph Northeast Region.

This action calls to mind the U.S. Secret Service polygraph branch's ditching the flaming winged skull with the motto "LET THE MINDGAMES BEGIN" and the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations polygraph unit's dropping the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST ... ALL OTHERS WE POLYGRAPH" from their challenge coins.

An FBI Polygraph Northeastern Region challenge coin has recently appeared for sale on eBay, and AntiPolygraph.org has obtained a specimen:

The obverse depicts a Disney caricature of Pinocchio and bears the motto "Live every day like you're taking a polygraph tomorrow." Might this be an admonishment to read The Lie Behind the Lie Detector daily?  Smiley

The reverse depicts an emblem taken from the FBI seal and bears the legend "FBI Polygraph Northeastern Region - The Rogue Examiners."

I confess I'm mystified as to why this group of FBI polygraph operators would call themselves "The Rogue Examiners," and I would be interested to hear the story from anyone in the know. The moniker calls to mind the infamous Michael Templeton of the New York Field Office, who coerced a false confession from an innocent Egyptian student in the aftermath of 9-11 and was the subject of an Inspector General complaint by an applicant who stated, "Throughout my examination Templeton displayed aggressive, hostile, and demeaning behavior."
