Just a point of information, The LASD is on a hiring freeze until July 2003. Ever since Leroy D. Baca purchased his airplane the SO has taken plenty of heat from the Board of Supervisors.

The BOS proposed $100 million in cutbacks, but eventually settled on $60 million. Many vital units fell victim to these cuts.  Some major units were the Cargo Cats anti-theft detail, Asian crime task force, and the pre- employment unit.

I just wonder if they kept all their $70,000 dollar a year polygraphers around. Of course they could have been sent back to the jails or worse, patrolling the streets of LA County. Imagine that!!

A correction to the non-polygraphing agencies

Los Angeles Unified School District Police are using the polygraph. Although their website is misleading about it, it does show up when you click the "apply for officer link" otherwise in all the other information it doesn't.

The recruiter did not confirm this information. HMMM???

Thanks fred for all the information.  I've now served in two differant agencies and am in the final process for the US Government LEO position.   Polys are a waste of time, resources, and again cannot differentiate between truth, lie, and character............

Former Officer,

Congratulations on your position. I am currently processing with two agencies in CA. I hope you have continued success in LE

what happens if you took a poly for the fbi and failed, would that disqualify you from other federal employment and other law enforcement agencies.

just wandering

Add Long Beach (CA) PD to the poly list. They have an interrogator on-staff, and they also use Intercept in LA and Santa Ana.

Does anyone know if the Cleveland, Detroit, or Toledo PD use polygraphs?

simplylookin

Cleveland does not poly for sure.Though with the massive layoffs they just had don't expect them to hire for a few years. Also I don't believe Toledo or Detroit poly but don't quote me.

There are no departments in Wisconsin that polly, but it is pretty tough getting into a dept. in Wisconsin. They are very peculiar about who they hire.

PAQ,

Yes SBPD does require a poly. Here is the link.

Don't be discourged by having to take a poly. You have been to this site and hopefully downloaded The Lie Behind The Lie Detector.  You have the insight to "pass" the polygraph because you are aware of what it really is.
Don't let the poly prevent you from getting your LE job

Good Luck

I'm new to the site and just scanning and learning, but do I understand pdity to be saying that there are no concerns with corruption, etc. with NYPD (I guess Serpico, Murphy, et al. lied) and the rest of the East coast. Pleeease!!!!! I guess there has never been a problem of that sort in Miami or New Orleans either. Let's get real here.

Does anyone know if there are any PDs or Sheriff's office that do not have a polygraph in Florida or Arizona?
