Can anyone tell me how accurate the sensor pads they place on the chair are  in detecting CM's using anal contractions??

Has anyone been accused of employing CM's while using the anal technique while sitting on a sensor pad, or is the pad just another smoke screen / lie, used by the examiner?

woogie

I don't really think it's a smoke screen...It does detect movement, and it's pretty sensititve.  So, if you sit on it and try to CM by constricting your anus, i would think it would probably detect it.

Here's the deal...I've got a poly coming up. Used the contraction technique on previous ones and passed, but now they are using the pad and I'm at a loss as to how to deal with the situation. I told the truth before but got a false positive, so learned of this site and used sphinter contraction method and passed. Now I'm not sure. It seems that biting tounge can be easily detected......any help or sharing of similar experiences would be appreciated!

Biting the tongue, if done gradually and on the control questions, does a fine job as a CM.  If they're using an anal sensor pad (a piezoelectric device), you might want to avoid the anus crunch.  It might pick it up, but then, as George said, there are no studies on it.

The tongue bite is invisible (well, practice to make sure), will 100% cause a reaction, and its use cannot be proven.  Don't make you lip or tongue bleed, though.  I would suggest biting the side away from the interrogator, as your muscles will move when you bite; just one more safety precaution.

After all is said, though, I recommend mental CM's whenever possible.  There's always a 1:1 million chance of having a physical CM discovered; there could be a camera on you from some odd angle, something.  Nobody can read the electrical impulses from your neurons...  8)

Cesium_133,

I am personally reluctant to advise anyone facing a polygraph exam, to employ the tongue bite polygraph countermeasure technique. Even with significant practice, it is still easy to detect the movement. If someone was being closely watched, I think the tongue bite could be caught. Keep in mind, following the examiners question, the examinee must determine if the question is a control or relevant question, decide on the answer "yes" or "no", and then properly employee the appropriate cm.

In addition, I think that mental cm's may require too much of the focused concentration required if polygraph cm's are decided upon. The examinee is already concentrating on maintaining a controlled breathing rate, while pretending not to be too nervous, [another cm] paying close attention to the questions being asked during the exam, properly identifying the questions as control or relevant, and then employing a potential countermeasure. That's a lot to be a lot to be concentrating on during a polygraph exam.

As I referenced previously, the tongue bite technique can be detected rather easily by someone watching through the one-way mirror; not to mention, the session may also be recorded on video for later study and review if tongue biting is suspected.

Although they do have sensor pads on some [not all] of the chairs used while administering polygraph exams, if practiced and properly executed the anal "pucker" can be very effective, and nearly impossible to detect. The practice and exercise must be to squeeze the anal sphincter muscle internally; and not the buttocks or gluteus muscles externally.

I agree that mental countermeasures are reported to be as equally effective as the anal "crunch"... However, I have successfully employed other polygraph cm's that were completely undetected by the polygraph examiner. Personally, I wouldn't know precisely how much of an affect mental countermeasures would have on the polygraph charts. With the anal squeeze, a little goes a long way... how complex of a mental algebra math problem would one be required to employ to equal the same or better results of an anal squeeze...??

I'm not sure how a test subject could measure the degree to which the mental cm's are affecting the charts. Perhaps a combination of mental cm's and a slight anal squeeze might work. It would reduce the risk of detecting any movement with a slight anal squeeze, and not have to worry about trying to solve a complex algebra problem.

Keep in mind, while employing [and thinking about] the mental cm's, it is still important to concentrate on your breathing rate. Too much emphasis on mental cm's could possible convert a test subjects concentration from their controlled breathing rate and draw attention from the examiner administering the poly. There are many things to consider... although all of which are of significant importance. I have practiced the tongue bite technique in the mirror extensively, and I'm simply not convinced it cannot be detected. Personally, I think it can be picked up on.

I have successfully employed other polygraph cm's during two FBI polygraph exams; and the examiner never suspected a thing. No post test interrogation, questioning, nothing! Actually, the polygraph examiner walked me back out to the field office application administrator and announced that I had done great, gave me the thumbs-up, and welcomed me to the bureau...
