I am interested in purchasing some polygraph equipment.  Prices for "modern" machines appear to be 2-3k.  In another thread, I read that someone saw a couple machines (possibly broken) for $30.  Does anyone have information or links to companies or websites (other than polygraphsales.com) that sell used machines?  I have been unable to find much up to this point.

Tarlain,

There were 2 machines on ebay, they are now gone. But there are some bigger older machines for sale there. Whether they work or not is questionable. But with 2 you might be able to make one workable. You have to keep looking regularly.

I must have missed them  :(

It is hard to weed through all of the silly handheld gadgets (though they would likely be just as accurate).  Thank you for the response.  I'm not willing to hand over a couple weeks pay for this game yet...especially for a device that does not have the countermeasure toys attached to it.  But really, I just want to test the mental cm's anyhow.

Tarlain,

Link follows for a polygraph being sold on ebay:

But if you need a good working one, this could be it. I called on it and it 100% functional. There are more details here but not for general consumption. Its kind of pricey, but might be what your looking for !!

Unless you're a collector or have some particular endgame in sight that requires you actually own & operate a working, real polygraph, you're better off assembling a makeshift one yourself. A good mirror, BP monitor, and a galvanic skin response meter (http://personal.pitnet.net/usr/gasperi/gsr.htm) will measure essentially everything you want to measure.

eos,
i will check into that.  a recent addition to my life has absorbed a large amount of my time atm...but i'm still on my mission  ;D  if i were really gonna blow a grand on this silly game...i'd probably start looking around for a new one...i still think i could build one with my current laptop.  you can buy devices that hook right into the usb port.  i was looking into that route...but then i decided the gsr was the most important part.

yorkie,
i agree with you to a degree.  i have access to some decent equipment at work.  i have spent some time working on raising my bp and pulse at will.  i also bought an ohm meter and built my own little gsr device.  it's pretty interesting.  i haven't decided how accurate it is though.  i can make the resistance drop dramatically with ease...but it doesn't really stabilize very well...and it's hard to get back to a baseline to practice over and over.  if that makes any sense...

edit:  yorkie...i looked at the site initially.  but the meter from that lego set is EXPENSIVE.  i think the set that includes that meter was around $200.  that was when i decided to just go to walmart and buy an ohm meter from the auto department.  ($12 for a digital)

edit2:  i LOVE yorkies.  i hated dogs all my life.  but the hospital i work at has yorkies as therapy dogs...and i liked them so much i got one :).  two years old now...5lbs...i love her more than myself most days.

Tarlain,

There is no substitute for the real thing .... especially where familiarization is concerned. And these machines only infrequently show up. But I would be hesitant too with the price they want for it too.  Good luck in your search, I have bot watching ebay for these thinks and it alerts me when one is posted. (BOT - software I wrote to monitor a website for changes, just in case you wanted to know what it is)

You might want to consider this:

http://www.wilddivine.com/Biofeedback/

It has a GSR/Hearrt rate/

Although the cheesyness of the actual game is not lost on me...... ;D

Tarlain, or who might be interested ...

On EBAY right now,

This polygraph would make a great practice test machine,  funny how these things just keep hitting the market. Again if you have enough to invest it will make the difference to have practice.

That would make a super toy.  I'm gonna be watching the price on that over the next few days.  I have a sneaking suspicion it won't be ~$100 towards the end.  Thanks again for keeping an eye out for me :D

Greetings:

Anyone remembers that device in the movie Blade Runner...???

It was some kind of "Lie Detector" that was using a video of your iris to see any changes.
