Heres one for you:

Are you hiding anything from your probation officer?
and

Have you ever lied to your probation officer??

What do you guys think? Are these questions relavent or control questions?? I would think that the first is a control question, and possibly the second, but i would like opinions.

Thanks!

How many people are hiding somthing from thier probation officer? I would think everyone is hiding at least somthing. And as far as the lying one, that one doesnt seem so apparent to me. It asks, have you EVER. Ever is a long time. Now, would a polygrapher make the assumption that at some point you have hidden or lied to you PO?

On the contrary, both questions appear to me to be probable-lie "control" questions.

George,

I am honored to have attracted your attention with my post. After looking up the definition of a probable lie control question, i would have to agree. It seems to me that these 2 questions are very cleverly concealed control questions.

It amazes and angers me to finally understand that the polygraph works by making you lie to it. It seems to me that it is completely unfair that the future and dreams of so many people lie hands of a man and machine that uses deception to attempt to dectect deception, and the fact that the people in authority, no matter if its government officials, probation officers or the people holding the door to employment put so much stock into this machine. I cant help but wonder if they knew the truth, if they would stop using it?     :-/

So then, If those were still a control question, the test that they were used in would be a CQT?

That is correct.
