I know they don't do a poly for the DoD/ TS clearance.  But if something from the background investigation, from the interviews comes up, will they then use the poly?  And for what?

Thanks!

If derogatory information is turned up in the course of a background investigation, then a person for whom a security clearance is being sought might indeed be asked to submit to a polygraph examination regarding that information, even if a polygraph examination is not normally a requirement for the security clearance being sought.
