what effect would taking zanax, a CNS deppressant have on the polygraph?

As Dr. Alan P. Zelicoff notes in his 13 June 2001 letter to the New Mexico Board of Medical examiners:

QuoteAn exhaustive review of the medical and scientific literature conducted by Sandia's 26 Senior Scientists...revealed no scientific studies demonstrating any effect of any medications or medical conditions on the outcome of the polygraph...

There is no reason to expect that any medication would differentially effect responses to relevant vs. "control" questions.

George:
Thank you for providing an answer with which I can have confidence in.  I asked long ago on several occassions about that very thing.
Do you know if pregnancy is included in Dr. Z's referenced report as a "medical condition"?  I have heard several polygraph examiners in here state that they would NOT poly a pregnant woman.

Nervous,

No need for drugs. Just read TLBTLD three or four times over, practice for a few days, and you will pass.

The polygraph is a complete and utter joke!!!! and should be rendered useless af far as I'm concerned.

BS is really flowing now.  The only thing that is useless is the crap on this site.

Seeker, I'm not sure if the Sandia Senior's review included pregnancy as a medical condition. But I am not aware of any scientific studies on the effects of pregnancy on polygraph examinations, either. For related discussion, see the message thread Polygraphs & pregnancy.
