I took a polygraph as a prequal for a law enforcement agency, I had a few question hit (even though I was totally honest) including the 'name' question. 'do some people call you xxx?" my question is this: the highest 'stress' I had was 4.5 out of 10, did I fail? he asked me about a few of the questions, but he said overall that "he didn't see anything alarming"

One thing that worried me was my left arm kept twiching, and making the readouts seem positive when infact they should have been false.....?

thanks!

A polygrapher would be lying to you if he told you that your response to 'is your name...?' was 'getting a hit'. That's an irrelavent question and is not scoreable nor scored. Perhaps he was trying to jack up your nerves a bit and thus misled you, hoping you would be knocked off balance by being told you were showing deception even with the most basic of questions.

I don't know to what scoring system you're referring when you say '4.5 out of 10', perhaps someone else can help. But I will say, if the answers to the relevant questions were '4.5', then the answers to the control questions must be of a higher value than 4.5 for you to be deemed NDI by your polygraph interrogator.

The fact that you weren't subjected to a post-polygraph interrogation is usually a good sign and means (again, usually) you passed.
