Not sure if i have the correct venue to ask this, but i really need help. How can 2 children, one is 10 and the other is 14,  who are clearly lying about certain events, pass a lie detector test regarding those events?  are they remembering false memories and are able to pass. because clearly they are lying, because i took a polygraph regarding the same issues, and i passed. they are lying about the events. how is that possible. i am in california and took the polygraph through the police. the children are in georgia.
i thankyou for any help you can give.

For the same reason that you could send them to a fortune teller with a crystal ball at the local carnival and they could be labelled as telling the truth.

The polygraph does not detect truth or deception.  It records physiological responses to verbal stimuli which have never been scientifically proven to be influenced by truth or deception.

But I know that when I took a polygraph, I WAS!!! telling the truth!!!!! It cleared me and my husband from any criminal prosecution of the allegations of my kids. i am actually using the premise that I took one and passed!!!! I know I am not lying...so then what?!!?!?

dinie,

The fact that you were fortunate enough to pass your polygraph while telling the truth doesn't mean that polygraphy is a valid test for truth or deception. There is consensus amongst scientists that it isn't.
