American Polygraph Association unveils new web site; hawks "evidence-based scientific methods for credibility assessment" and "highest standards of professional, ethical and scientific practices"

The APA's newly updated web site can be found at www.polygraph.org.

As a full member of the American Polygraph Association -- and unsuccessful candidate for the office of president-elect -- I find it odd that the APA's unabashed and exuberant claims come from the same group whose electorate overwhelmingly rejected the following:

1) a bill of rights for polygraph test subjects

2) a countermeasure challenge series

3) equal treatment of its members

Clearly, there appears to be an intellectual disconnect somewhere along the line.

My guess is that such skewed reasoning stems from an insular groupthink mentality that is common to cloistered and like-minded entities who run the inner circle of a highly protective organization.

But that's just my hunch.

Still, I dare say that absent the inclusion of the three aforementioned critical points, any APA claim of polygraph accuracy, along with their pledge to maintain the "highest standards of professional, ethical and scientific practices," should be viewed with extreme caution.

Again, this is just the view of one lowly polygraph operator.
