Just doing some research for down the road and it led to me this message board. I'm interested in becoming a core collector and am looking at it's recruitment process. The only issue I will have with the minimum requirements is the background check. I had a felony criminal mischief charge go pro bono and am wondering if this will eliminate me from the recruitment process. I'm certain they will find this in a BG check even though I've had it expunged from my record. Any info would be appreciated.

donager,

I see nobody stepped up to offer anything on your post. I lack expertise in this area; I don't know the CIA's policy regarding convictions. I don't think everyone working there came from Mother Teresa's camp, so it might be worth a try.

You would obviously need a Top Secret Clearance. The reading I've done on clearances did indicate that a conviction is not an automatic disqualification so long as it can be demonstrated to be "mitigated by time."

You will also need a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.

This link should provide some insight:

Conviction?

All it takes for an application to become f*cked up (in the case of the CIA at least) are just one or two negative comments coming from whomever the background investigators choose or chance to speak with.

Don't waste your time! >:(
What do we call it when every employee of the Agency's Office of Security
and Office of Personnel drowns in the Potomac?   A great beginning!

The best intelligence community employee is a compromised IC employee!
