inconclusive results

Hi, I recently took a pre-employment polygraph for a government job and the result was "inconclusive", so now, I have a lot of questions, and I was wondering if anyone who is a credible source on polygraphs could answer them. What exactly does "inconclusive" mean in terms of how your results came out (i.e. does it mean you had physiological responses to the "inconclusive questions" in some series of the questions and not in other series?)? Also, the polygrapher told me that I may not have to come back and retake the polygraph, but from his years of experience, I probably will...so my question is, regarding inconclusive tests, what are the stats on people that have to retake the test and those that don't? Lastly, if you do have to come back and retake a polygraph due to inconclusive results, do they change the questions completely on you from your first one? Or do they keep them the same? Or do they break down the questions that were "inconclusive" (for example instead of asking, "Have you ever betrayed someone that has loved or trusted you", might they ask "Have you ever played two people against one another for your benefit?" "have you ever talked about friends behind their backs?", etc.)?
