CPS Polygraph

We have been asked to take a poly by an independent polygrapher involving our sons injuries. He was taken by child protective svcs a few months ago and put in foster care. We did not injure our son and hubby took a poly administered by the PD(military) and was sobbing the whole time, and they told him he failed. He told them they were lying and that he was being truthful, later on we found out it was inconclusive and that they basically threw it out.
I am now terrified to take the test, due to hubby's experience and I am afriad I could be charged criminally with something I DIDN"T do, not to mention giving CPS ammo for their weak case. Hubby's atty is all for this polygrapher(they are good friends) and he will be present the whole time, but I am so paranoid.
Could my nervousness like shakiness and high pulse cause me to fail even when I am telling the truth?
Would it be helpful to get a confidential poly prior to see what the outcome could be or have in case the CPS one is bad?
Thanks,C

C,

Yes, your nervousness could very well cause you to fail even though you tell the truth. Before you decide to sit for any polygraph interrogation, I suggest that you download The Lie Behind the Lie Detector and read Chapters 1 and 3. You might also wish to refer your husband's lawyer to this book.  I think after reading it, and learning how polygraphy really "works" (and doesn't), you will agree that submitting to a polygraph interrogation is a bad idea.

I am surprised that your husband's lawyer encouraged you to submit to a polygraph "test." The fact  that he is a friend of the polygrapher in question suggests that he has a conflict of interest; the fact that he suggests that you submit to this voodoo science suggests that he is incompetent. You might want to get a new lawyer.

Does CPS stand for Calgary Police Service?

Never mind.  Child Protective/Protection Services.  Got it.
