- Oct 04, 2012, 04:58 PMOh,my FSO told me. I can call them anytime and they will say the same thing, "nothing yet, but when we get something, we'll let you know" Nothing has changed in the last several months, I have basically been in process for quite a long time.
Thanks for helping and giving some sort of relief. I just think its amazing how ridiculously long this is taking.

- Oct 02, 2012, 07:35 PMYeah, when the polygraphers feel you are deceptive, they think you are hiding something so they "err in the interest of national security", meaning they won't hire you because of this bit of doubt. The polygraphers have your life...I mean career... in their hands.
After 8 months, and if your references were already contacted, you probably passed the poly. You are likely in that dark realm known as Adjudication right now. It is when some group of people look at your entire file (BI info, credit, poly reports, etc.) and decide yay or nay on you. This often can take a while, even longer if you have moved around a bit or have foreign contacts.
Or your file could just be sitting on someone's desk collecting dust. Anyway, this is that stage where you really can't get any information.
But I'm curious, how do you now know that you are still in process? What changed from two days ago?

I'm so sorry to hear you got rejected, that is mind blowing. Anyway, I know I'm still in process, I won't tell you exactly how I know, but I do know. Again, why so freaking long?
If I failed the "exam", then why not just let me know? It was taken 8 months ago. This is crazy!

They didn't bother to do my BI because apparently the polygraph says I was being deceptive so they cut me so fast my blood was still blue. I have a clean background by the way, no jail, no arrests, no crime, no drugs, good finances, no debt, no foreign contacts (never been off the east coast), and all that jazz.

You had your background investigation (BI) BEFORE your polygraph with the CIA?! That is odd, very odd. For people who apply directly with the CIA, they always do the poly before the BI. Because it is cheaper to poly someone than run a full BI and if you "fail" the (subjective) poly, they won't bother to pay for your BI. The only time the CIA will poly direct hires after the BI, or at the same time the BI is going on, is for students applying for internships and stuff because there is some sort of deadline for students in the year.
Maybe it is because you are applying for CIA clearance as a contractor. I guess for contractors it is a different chain of events. I honestly can't speak for how it goes with contractors. I only know of the process for direct CIA hires into the agency...from first hand experience. Either way, the polygraph is the big hurdle. I will tell you, if you fail the CIA poly, you will know within 3 months via a certified mail letter arriving at your door.
They say no news is good news. Check up with your FSO at your company, or whoever you have contact with.

If there is a recent inquiry in these last 6 months from the government or some random agency, that means the CIA has pulled your credit as part of your background investigation, meaning you passed the poly (unless they call you in later for a 3rd poly after your BI). You can also call your references and see if anyone has contacted them, though references usually will notify you quickly if some investigator contacted them.
These things will let you know. Usually agencies don't run your BI if you don't pass the poly, the CIA definitely won't.

I will keep this simple and straight to the point. It's been six months since I took the second of my two 'tests/exams' and still no word from the CIA. The first go round, I was found to be not telling the truth on 3 of the 8 questions. The second go round, it was down to 2 questions that I was lying on. Of course, I have no reason to lie and did not. From what I understand, I was supposed to receive some correspondence letting me know that I'm essentially a liar and my clearance is denied? The contractor that set me up with clearance procedure thru the CIA would be the one to contact me and let me know if I passed or failed, but they have not heard from them as yet and and let me know that I am still in the process (whatever that means).
So my question is simple, since its been so long, and I have not received official word that I have been denied, is there still a chance that I passed? If I really failed, should I have not received word that I did actually fail? Is it a good sign that I have not heard anything as of yet? I have a lot of family that lives overseas, could they be conducting the investigation? If I did fail, would this preclude me from possibly getting a clearance from another agency? I know that I have to inform them that I was denied, but, maybe I could get one that doesnt require a poly, since I was a nervous wreck through the process. Any time the 'examiner' spoke, made me jump inside which I'm sure made the computer 'jump' thus me failing.
Any answers to these questions would be really appreciated. Thanks!
