Thanks for the input. Have you seen the photo where Slam Dunk Cia Tenet was photographed handing out an award to (forget name) an employee who was a spy and who later confessed but is in prison for life? Well, this is the ultimate loss of face for a CIA director and I am sure somone got the blame, but I am sure this later discovered spy passed the polygraph and somehow could save face by saying the spy passed the test, how can you blame me?

Looks like polygraph exams are a good example of the 1% theory which states if there is a 1% chance of someone being guilty then they are guilty. ( or something like that) Maybe polygram exams have a chance of weeding out 1% of those who indeed are involved with harming national security, and those that are innocent (99%) are discarded because the supply of potential of future employees are unlimited.

You are 100% accurate on the polygraph used as a cushion to shield incompetant bureaucrats. And its exactly what they do and point the finger that they passed the polygraph, and it wasn't there fault that the likes of Aldrich Ames or Robert Hansson did the foul deeds they did. Pass the buck, blame and collect a check, sounds familiar doesn't it.

It is hard to believe that those in power would allow this kind of testing to go on. I think what it comes down to (maybe) is if you pass and you get the job and you are a spy etc... and get caught, then those who cleared you for the job can always fall back on , "Well hell Jim, he passed the polygraph"! You were the one who cleared him for the job, not me"!! See what I mean ???
Also, if you pass, then they make sure to accuse you of cheating on the test, when there is not way for them to know if you did or not. What kind of test is this?? The truth is when it comes to national security, if something goes wrong it is all about blaming the next guy. That way one can keep their cushy GOVT job  until they retire, and then even come back to work for the GOVT as a contractor making more money!!! Then when you do finally retire, you end up making more money than when you were working!

Is this not the core of corruption and those who have this power will take any and all steps to protect this one hell of a deal job. Hey maybe now I understand more about this and it is not so hard to believe what those who have this power will do to keep it! :'( :'(

I would like to thank you for you kind and informative words.  This all came down to a very basic point and that is when a man is telling the truth and he is being called a liar by someone who knows they are totally protected from any reprecussions what so ever, well it is hard just to shut up and walk out.

What these guys do is like playing poker. They bluff and you know, from those who do not know how to play this kind of poker, the hand they are up against looks pretty darn powerful and to fold looks like a darn good move, but it is not. I played my hand and I believe it is a draw in some ways and a win for me in other ways.

Yes, I will take this experience and I hope I learn from it and next time under these circumstances I hope to stay cool and play the game. I plan to share any further experiences I may have related to any future poly testing I may be subjected to. I think the plan in the future is not to reveal what I have learned about the exam and just play along. What is strange about all of this, is I have nothing to hide, but the other side appears not to think so. This is one game I am not interested in playing in, but I find myself in the thick of it all. Sometimes it makes you wonder why one would put themselves through such a test.

My polygraph exam was a horrible experience. At the beginning I was asked what did I know about a polygraph and I said not much at all, nothing really. To this the Man says, in total disgust and disdain, well there are websites like Antipolygraph that are nothing but total lies and should not be allowed on the web.


When the exam was terminated after a few questions and I felt threaten by being accused of taking measures to alter the test, and then being outright called a liar because I stated that was not true, I went home and  I logged on to the website and started reading about the truth  about Polygraph exams. What a eye-opener.

I think I should say, that in some cases where people who have done some very bad things and when confronted with a polygraph exam and they end up confessing their crime, then I say the exam is ethical. However, as I read about those stories of those who were not corrupt individuals and were labeled so because they told the truth, I am really shocked, but then in again, from I have learned as I have traveled in this life, that life is not fair and those with the power will do anything to maintain that power. They will sacrifice the innocent to catch one corrupt person in the hopes they will confess, or in some cases refuse to take the exam with the result of being dismissed from their job.
