Each department varies.  If they want you bad enough, they will take you.  I know of one FBI applicant that had a DUI conviction prior to applying and they still took him into consideration.  If he actually got hired or not I don't know.  I know he made it to the BI with them having the knowledge that he had a DUI conviction.  Just depends.

Does anybody know if a police department states that you can not become a police officer if you have been convicted of a DUI with-in the last 3 years, that after those 3 years are up, and you apply, if it is still weighed heavily against you? Any thoughts are welcome.
