I think you might well have a chance of being granted a security clearance, considering the nature of the infraction, the agency involved (DoD), and the time that has elapsed.

I took a Life Style Poly for the DOD over 15 years ago. I was denied my clearance based on my personal admission of changing my salary to by a house. I was young and stupid.

15 years later I have excellent credit, a nice home, religious and have strong values. Do I have a chance?
