Flip,

While you might better address your question to the Collier County Sheriff's Department, as a general rule, agencies that require a pre-employment polygraph examination as a condition of employment generally disqualify applicants who "fail."

If your drug use did not exceed this department's maximum allowable level, then it would be prudent to appeal your polygrapher's opinion in writing.

Well I am sure I can talk for alot of us when I say we all know how you feel. Just stay on those Police Departments, keep appling and study counter measures. By the way, did you use counter-measures? And what state did you apply in?

I recently took a retest for a job in the police dept.  I did very poorly. I was very nervous and felt even more constricted with the band around my chest.     They were focusing on illegal drug use.  My friends laughed that I failed. I barely even take an aspirin.  however, I feel that this has cost me a job and benefits.  Plus they are now looking at me as if I am a liar.   They keep at me to fess up.  I told them I wish I had something to fess up to because I want the job.  Maybe this shows that if I am so nervous taking an exam in the "electric chair" that I am too nervous to be in corrections.
