While that is true. The FBI's SOG consisting of specially trained SA's will conduct the covert op. Support SSG's usually arn't involved  in this type of activity.....

Special Operation Groups within the bureau consist of special agents as well as support personnel...

It is not uncommon for a special operations team comprised of SA's and support personnel to conduct covert operations such as you referenced.

I am reading a book on Robert Hannsen and it mentions a group called the "black bag crew." From my readings, these folks seem to be the ones that do covert entries, place microphones, and conduct covert searches.

My question is are these folks agents or support personnel?
