If you want to pass a polygraph, you'd better NOT follow the above advise.

I can only assume that they would want a truly honest person.

That having been said, I recently took a lie detector test, lied my ass off on all relevant questions, and passed with flying colors.  If they COULD catch countermeasures, they WOULD have with me.  12 questions, three times.  Passed.

So read the articles and employ coutermeasures on relevant questions.

My position would be a contract linguist, not an agent.

Perhaps, they wouldnt realy care if I admit having shoplifted.

lawrence,

I suggest you download and read "TLBTLD" available for free on this web site.

Shoplifting is not a desirable trait for a candidate seeking employment with the FBI.

Good luck.

If I had shoplifted twice as a adult would it be wise to admit in the prepolygraph stage for an FBI test.  I am putting my efforts into the drugs questions and I would rather not have to lie about the shoplifting question.

Also, if they tell me to conciously lie how are you supposed to act at the control question?

Thanks,
