Recently a cop from our great city (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) was suspended for domestic assault.  He has been serving for 4 years and therefore had to undergo a pre-employment poly.  The same one I had to but got permanently deferred based on a falsified confession.  Yes I have an axe to grind.

Last year a city firefighter got fired for being convicted of running a less than ligit massage parlor.  After that happened the city decided to poly all fire fighter applicants stupidly thinking a poly might prevent this sort of potential future activity.

A couple questions for the idiots running our city, police service and fire departments.

If the poly for the cop 4 years ago didn't help deter or detect this type of activity, what makes you people think it will do anything for the fire department applicants.

on another note, the RCMP (Canadian federal police force) have finally decided to implement the poly into their hiring practices.  They are already severly short of qualifed applicants.  Can't wait to see the mad scramble when the magic machine starts cutting those applicant numbers in half.

Good for a laugh I guess.  My city and country are run by morons.  It is no better up here my American cousins.
