I agree with saidme, they should have clarified the admissions.  Did you try and clarify them?  Have you attempted to file any formal response to your DQ?  You should if you truely believe you are innocent of the admissions you made.

Sounds like you got hosed by an incompetent investigator.  I find it hard to believe they didn't ask any clarifying questions.  If they didn't shame on them.

You are exactly right, it could have been last week.  You did what the PD I applied with didn't do; ask for the circumstances and put it into context.  At first it seemed like I had something to hide about my theft and drug use, and I'll admit it does look fishy without knowing the circumstances.  However I feel cheated because that is what happened.  My honesty came back to bite me in the ass.  

I was asked

"Have you ever posessed drugs." Yes.

"Ever hit your wife." Yes.

"Ever steal money." Yes.

Again, being an honest person I have to answer yes to these questions because that is just the type of person I am, honest with integrity.  Without knowing the circumstances I look like I should be put in jail.  No attempt was made for clarification, and that, in my opinion is wrong.  (Especially when I was told I would be given the chance to do so.)

Anyway, what is done is done.  I'll try not to cry too much over my spilled milk.....    :'(

Now Saidme, you know that is not true. We agreed about the wife taking the poly, and I just agreed with you about the guy wanting to lie on every question, even what his name is as he walks in the door. How can you be so mean and hurtful to me like that?

Your initial post was a little vague.  Also you didn't mention the theft occurred when you were 8.  Could have been last week.  Actually, I think Mr T was being somewhat sarcastic as I don't believe he and I have ever been on the same side of an issue.

You are right, what were the circumstances???  Wouldn't a competent background investigator want to explore that to see if I am telling the truth?  Wouldn't a BI want to know if I ever did have a history with drugs? The department I applied with did not have posession as an automatic disqualifier, only usage and sales.  Again, there have been many people who have become LEOs after having used Marijuana.  I merely held it 12 years ago.  And NO, there is no room for imagination because I was not planning on selling it.  Don't look any further into my post because what I stated is all that happened.  It's funny how I passed all questions on the polygraph about if I have ever "sold, cultivated, used, or transported any illegal drug."  I don't know, sounds like I'm telling the truth.

Either you are being silly or you have no idea what you are talking about.  I took money from a wallet when I was 8 years old.  OH MY GOD, throw me in jail.  Come on, lets be realistic.

Anyway, these are the things I was DQ'd for.  So I guess by your logic all police officers in every state, city, and department; all sheriffs, highway patrolmen, FBI agents, border patrol agents, and  such have, 1). never stolen as a child, 2). Never smoked, inhaled, or "possessed marijuana, and 3). have never played slug bug.  I may be wrong, but I don't think that is the case.  

"another bad apple was weeded out from a career in law enforcement." ;D Quite the contrary my dear friend, I have PASSED all aspects of the LAPD process and will probably have my academy date next month.  Then, according to you, I will be able to go to Rampart and "shake down" people, use my Columbian drug connections to deal in the neighborhoods, and beat my wife with violent games of "slug bug." :P

Holding marijuana (for 10 seconds) meets the parameters for possession.  My question would be, what were the circumstances?  Was it because you were selling the nugget along with a couple of ounces to someone else?  Lot of room for the imagination there.  I think you're a long way from Mother T. :D

I was also DQ'd from my a local PD for my "drug posessions" and from taking $10 from a wallet I found (which I agree was childish and stupid).  I only have a beef with  my "domestic issues" (prior post) and these so-called "drug possessions."  I admitted to the polygraph examiner that I held a "nugget" of marijuana about the size of a penny for about ten seconds.  I also admitted to looking at a bong and a pipe.....that's it.  Throughout high school and college I have never "used, thought I was using, inhaled, ingested, or in any way experimented with marijuana."  EVER.  I made this very clear to the polygraph examiner and he said it would not be a problem.  What a bastard!! Why would he say that if I was going to get DQ'd?  For the life of me what I have explained is not experimentation because I never thought about using Marijuana.  What do you guys think, is what I described experimentation?  Does that deserve a DQ?    
 
And like I read from many of you posters before, I SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY BIG MOUTH SHUT!!!!!  Would they have found out about this, probably not.  I am a person of honesty and integrity and my folks always told me that I can never go wrong with the truth.  In most cases they are right, but not in becoming a LEO.  What a bunch of bullshit.  This local PD told me prior to all this that they aren't looking for "saints" and everybody has had problems.  All I know is, the people they chose over me must be Mother Theresa and are perfect.
