moni,

Yes, your anxiety may very well have resulted in a false positive outcome. It is not at all unusual for honest people to fail polygraph "tests." The procedure has no scientific basis and is inherently biased against truth-tellers.

For a thorough debunking of polygraphy, see our book, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, which you can download here:

Your money would have been better spent on a visit with a professional relationship counsler.  No polygraph result can change a jealous boyfriend into a trusting companion/partner.

my boyfriend and I have been together for quite a while and he felt that I was lying. I was very tired of being accused of cheating(looking at other men, lying about where I was going) the usual stuff when one is accused of cheating. So I decided to take a polygraph exam. I was confisent(my mistake) that I would pass because I've never cheated nor would I ever cheat. So on the day of the exam, I walk into the exam room and  :(begin my exam. I felt very nervous and anxious because I kept thinking what if I felt. I answered each question honestly and was told after the exam that I failed. My question is could my anxiety produce false results. I did not lie and feel like I'm going crazy. Help!!!! Is it just me? I don't know where to turn.
