My best advice would be to download TLBTLD and read the chapters regarding polygraph procedure and countermeasures, and then apply the countermeasures on the control questions.

I also recently failed a poly because I was breathing too deeply for the examiner's taste.  Other than that, they had no idea about the countermeasures I was employing and I showed no reaction to the relevant questions.  I am confident that I will pass my next poly based on my experience with this one and that George and Gino's book is the best read anyone can get prior to taking a poly.

I am a 22-year-old law enforcement cert. applicant waiting to be hired on by a very large city PD. I have tried for two other agencies and have failed on both. My last experience was very upsetting. I was asked a set of 10 set questions twice and at the end asked an 11th question; if I had lied on any of the questions just asked. I failed the 11th question both times, but passed all of the 10. Example was did you lie on any of your drug use, I pass it, but then was asked at the end did I lie on any of the 10 questions, I failed. I know in my mind I was still thinking there must be something else I;m holding back on, which indeed I wasnt. But it appeared I was. This feeling I have when asked the last questions was involuntary and I could feel my body reacting. I have dreamed of becoming an officer my entire life and am damned to let an unreliable polygraph stand in my way. I have the test tomorrow and just found this site. Im planning on reading up later but wanted to post this right away so people could respond and help me. Please help me fulfil my goal.

P.S. i dont want to cheat, i want to pass. i've never done anything n my history except stole something worth $50 to question. i just want to hear what people have to say
