Check out item # 2975578328 on Ebay. It's an email book for $24.99. The seller and apparent author calls the polygraph a "sick joke" and promises that her book will help "you beat the polygraph hands down". I wonder if this lady is George's long lost sister????

It looks like she's re-selling Doug Williams' "manual."

It's a thankless job, but somebody's gotta do it.

I think you will get a kick out of this. I looked up the seller on eBay and she has only sold 1 item, and that was a hard drive. I wote her to ask if the product was guaranteed against my failing my polygraph exam.

This is her reply:

Yes, It is guaranteed to pass. Do you know Wen Ho Lee from Taiwan? He
is a FBI suspect. He failed twice. The third time , one of his friend
passed this insider's manual to him, he passed it, then he got free
from the jail.
Believe me.I donot fool you around. Since it is writen by a polygraph
examiner. Just follow it exactly, you will pass it.
Attached is part of a real form the examiner gave to me currently using
at the real test, no no else can get the real form .

The attachment showed a blank scoring sheet with yesterday's newspaper.

All in all, very comical!
You can see the date, from today's news paper.

Polyscore,

Call me paranoid or just call me a cop, but the response you got from this lady raises the hair on the back of my neck! She is obviously not the author of this manual but the purchaser. Why did she buy it. Who does she know and why the reference to Wen Ho Lee. Who does she or another relative work for? She must be very dumb to put it on EBay, or just very money hungry. How does she know this manual works and is willing to guarentee it? I smell the docks at low tide here! I hope an examiner from the DOE or the NSA monitors this site. I met an examiner from the NSA at the AAPP Seminar in Autin Tx. I will try to give him a call on Monday and let him in on this. It just does not look right! It would take fifteen minutes to write a search warrant for her EBay info to find out just who she really is. Once again, call me paranoid, but I think it is worth a second look!

As long as we are talking about counter measures I have a question.

Can you legally get someone's real name and e-mail from the internet? I have heard you can get them but it is not legal.

A couple of weeks ago there was a guy on George's web site talking about beating his test. He was a volunteer applicant and said he told the truth but employed counter measures anyway and passed. He was using the name 25 cent.

We know by what he said that we gave him the test but can't prove it. By the way, he was called NO and did not get the job. He is still writing letters to everyone including the Chief.

I wish I could prove it was him and wave it under his nose.

Unless a criminal act has been committed, I doubt a search warrant could be obtained for the information. There was a recent ruling on subpoenaing information from internet service providers in conjunction with a civil law suit filed against file sharing service users distributing copy righted material. The federal appeals court threw out the case and said that the information was illegally obtained through improper subpoenas.

As an interested private party, one could email him/her and see if he/she reply's. If they reply and do not use a secure email server, such as ziplip, then the IP that the user was using at the time the email was sent will be in the properties of the email. A quick search on Whois will identify the location of the IP. For relatively cheap, $20-30, one can purchase tracer software that pinpoints the location of an IP down to the city and sometimes the name of the person, if they have cable or DSL with a permanently assigned IP. All of this is public information and not protected.

Let me know if this helps or if you had some other ideas that I might be of assistance with.

This is an excellent answer. Right on the money. There is no clearing housr or databases for e-mail addresses. Sometimes you can get close to the city just by looking at the e-mail address and trying to find the company or the ISP. If you can get an email, they come tagged with the senders IP address ( put the email up on the screen and go to file>properties). This ip address will get you very close to the actual location because the tracking software will trace back through every hop (router) that the email had to go through to get to the destination. Just look at it in reverse and you can usually get very close to the physical location of that IP address. You can send e-mail annonymosly by using services that hide your ip address and send through a series of servers that are very, very hard to trace.
