Will CBP use polygraph results against you after 2 years when you reapply?

Hello,

I am applying to CBP for the second time after being rejected in 2021 since the polygrapher accused me of being a spy LOL. I am a prior Army veteran with a secret clearance and they used my secret clearance against me to get me to admit to something I didn't want to admit.

My question is...

Does anyone know if they will use the same attack scheme on me they used on my last application? I am concerned I will be doing everything right from the book (TLBTLD) but since they probably have a record of the last polygraph they are gonna lie to me and say I am lying about the same relevant question that got me 3 years ago.

Edit: I somehow passed that polygraph in 2021 but they used what I disclosed on it to not hire me.

How I regret not finding this website 3 years ago I would have never admitted anything but decided to do the honest approach and it worked against me.

CBP will have the record of your earlier polygraph, and thus a record of any admissions that you made then.

If you are allowed to advance in the hiring process as far as the polygraph, then that would suggest to me that your prior admissions are no longer considered disqualifying. It's possible that any security concern has been mitigated by the passage of time.

Apart from The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, you may also care to see the following blog post on CBP's pre-employment polygraph format, the Test for Espionage, Sabotage, and Corruption (TES-C):

Got it thanks!!

So if they ask me that same relevant question on the test I will do my countermeasure and relax myself as much as possible and this time I am answering it with a "No".

However, when I pysch myself out with stressful thoughts in the control questions I tend to shake a little bit, very slightly but my lower back and forearms shake very little. Do you think they will catch on to that? If they come at me I can always say that the question stresses me out so much that I can't help it

I don't know what admission you made on your prior polygraph (and I don't recommend posting it here), or to what extent it was truly relevant. But if you contradict yourself in the polygraph suite, I think that could end up being (justifiable) grounds for disqualification. If you'd like to discuss this privately, you can reach me via Signal at ap_org.01.

Regarding countermeasures, note that there is no evidence that polygraph operators have any ability to detect the kinds of countermeasures outlined in The Lie Behind the Lie Detector. Nonetheless, it would be prudent to avoid physical movement while connected to the polygraph instrument.
