If you are a cop with one force and then you apply to another police force that requires a poly...and you fail.....Do they rat you out to your current force and get you fired?

Ed,

Based on what I have seen in other posts by police officers in similiar situations you have nothing to fear unless you have some serious IAB investigations, use of force complaints, etc. in your jacket.

If your record is good, your command staff will not be concerned with a bad polygraph. Your dept. knows your record and the polygraph won't diminish that.

Its a shame that they don't give applicants the same benefit of doubt. But then again, the same command staff believes the poly is truly accurate and infallable for pre-employment "verification" of PHS.

I don't know if I would agree with the specific terminology you refer to as would one LE agency "rat you out" to another LE agency simply to get you fired. However, you do raise a valid issue and supportive concern with respect to a failed pre-employment polygraph exam following you throughout your career path.

In short, it is my understanding that upon written request or query put forth on behalf of a valid LE agency, {not necessarily a private investigator or investigative firm} it is not uncommon for LE agencies to openly and freely "share" information with respect to polygraph test results, as it would apply to a specific candidate or test subject.

Good luck with your future law enforcement endeavors.
