I was caught with a small amount of pot about 10 years ago, the charge was dropped, do you think the fbi would know about that. I dont smoke pot or condone it, stupid college thing what do you think, important or not

It'll only become important if you allow it to. When asked, tell the truth, then it's no big deal, and relatively unimportant. Lie or deny and I guarantee you, it'll take on a life of it's own and become far more important than need be, and you'll be one of the disgruntled minority that post their failings on this site.
As for whether or not the FBI would know about it, don't allow that to become an issue. Just let them know right up front that while you were in college you were in possession of marijuana. If you used, tell them that too.
Bottom line, don't bullshit 'em.
