I am taking the initial written test for the United states capitol police next month. I have heard the test is simple, so I am not worried about that.
However, they do state on their site that they have a polygraph segment of their testing process. Hmm, go figure a job that your main agenda is to protect congressmen and they have a poly to make sure you're not lying. Ironic.
Since it's federal, I assume that they actually have the poly.
Has anyone here taken this test? Does anyone know what it entails. I already dl'd and printed certain chapters (3 &4 + last segment) of the online book of TLBTP. I was also thinking about purchasing the Doug Williams "sting" write up.
I don't have anything horrible to hide, however, I am super nervous about a polygraph. I have read a lot of the threads on here, both success stories and stories of failure, but I just want some knowledge on that particular poly. It seems (given that the thread starters are honest in their initial posting) that no matter what, I should worry if I can pass this thing.
Thanks in advance.

Although I have no experience with the capital police poly, my standard advice to you would be:
1) Be honest (I assume you're going to, anyway) in the pre-test part,
2) Practice and use countermeasures -- No matter what they tell you,
correctly-done countermeasures are undetectable, and,
3) No matter what they tell you about how you're "doing" on your charts, stick to your guns about your truthfulness, and do so unequivocally. It might not hurt to have a throw-away explanation for any "reactions", but if they don't accept it, don't try to rack your brains for a way to "convince" them--one might as well attempt to convince a cult member to leave their cult.
It is a waste of your time to do so, it will only discourage you and/or make you more nervous, and it might even make the polygrapher think you're trying to avoid answering the question. Not to be discouraging, but it is impossible to say whether you will "pass" (i.e. not react to) all the questions on the test.
Please believe me, though, when I tell you that it has little to do with how truthful you are.Skeptic
