Anyone know if Special Agent's in the US Customs service are required to take a polygraph as part of the pre-employment process?  Thanks

Special agents are required to pass a polygraph.

US Customs inspectors/Canine handlers are NOT required to pass one.

HTH.

Thanks for the response.  Are u sure?  I've been tentativly offerd the position, done all the tests and the background check and have recieved no mention that I would have to take one.  All the papers I've recieved don't mention one at all.  Are they just going to spring one one me?!?!  Thanks again

Customs222,

You can check out the "official" Customs Inspector job description at //www.usajobs.opm.gov. You will find it under Treasury Dept. Customs

You will see that there is NO polygraph required for the job

Good Luck

Fred,
I may be wrong, but the customs seminar I last attended, I obtained the "customs agent" application package and in it is stated that Polygraph was required.  I'll look again at it in the morning to be sure.

Customs "agents" and "inspectors" BTW are two differant positions.  One is uniformed, and the other is not.
