During the current pandemic, security and privacy issues (https://www.cnet.com/news/zoom-every-security-issue-uncovered-in-the-video-chat-app/) with the suddenly popular conferencing application Zoom have been in the news.
It's worth noting that there is a free and open source alternative available that prioritizes security and privacy: Jitsi Meet (https://jitsi.org/jitsi-meet/).
Jitsi Meet has the advantage that users need not install any software. Just go to the Jitsi Meet's public server, open a conference, and send the conference link to participants:
https://meet.jit.si
Alternatively, you can create your own Jitsi Meet server. Instructions are available in this video tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KR0AhDZF2A).
While only a web browser is required to use Jitsi Meet, there are also free mobile apps for iOS (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jitsi-meet/id1165103905) and Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jitsi.meet) available.
