Title: I failed and made an admission, am I hosed?
Post by: leffe42 on Feb 15, 2014, 01:30 PM
I recently took the CBP poly and failed, I admitted afterwards to having under reported my use of marijuana. I understand this will DQ me from CBP, but moving forward can I even still apply to local agencies? I mean will they be able to check with CBP and will CBP release my info?

I really wish I had better facts going into it. For anyone considering CBP they don't seem too concerned with marijuana use, I was under the impression that any more than 6 uses would DQ me which is why I wasn't honest.

Please advise...

To the best of my knowledge, while federal agencies routinely share applicant polygraph results with each other, they do not routinely do so with state or local government agencies.

Does this policy apply to the military? The defense department is a federal agency, but would it apply to service members or just civilians?

I believe it does. That is, DoD agencies with polygraph programs don't routinely share service members' polygraph results with state and local agencies.
